Jehovah's Witnesses Encounter the Truth Fairy

This video is kind of silly, but it makes some good points.

Emma Gough, Martyr or Victim?

Thousands of people have died because of Jehovah's Witnesses ever changing policies on medical treatments. This video discusses a recent case of a mother who refused a blood transfusion after giving birth to twins and later died. I feel great sympathy for the family, especially since I used to have the same beliefs.

Man With No Face

This is a heartbreaking video. This man could have had the growths removed earlier, but he is a Jehovah's Witness and avoided the surgery because it would involve a blood transfusion.

Beware the Birdcatcher

Jehovah's Witnesses are forbidden to read anything that is critical of their religion. The Internet has been a big problem for them, especially when embarrassing information is posted from their own publications. They are taught that the Internet is a tool of Satan who is like a birdcatcher trying to trick Witnesses into reading unauthorised information.

Crazy Quotes #3, Beth Sarim

In the early 1920's, the Watchtower Society declared that the ancient worthies like Abraham and Moses would be resurrected in 1925. Joseph Rutherford had a beautiful mansion built in California for their use. He even equipped it with two chauffeur driven Cadillacs.

Well, the worthies never arrived, so Joseph Rutherford lived there until he died in 1941. He enjoyed the use of a luxurious mansion while his followers struggled through the Great Depression.

This amusing quote is from the San Diego Sun of March 15, 1930. "But how will you identify King David or any of the other representatives from God?' Rutherford was asked. 'I thought all that out before I wrote the deed,' the judge replied with a twinkle in his gray eyes. 'I realized the possibility of some old codger turning up bright and early some morning and declaring he was David. The men whom I have designated to test the identity of these men are officers of my societies and have consecrated themselves to the Lord, they will be divinely authorized to know impostors from the real princes."

Crazy Quotes # 2, 1,600 Furlongs

Jehovah's Witnesses believe they are special and that much of the Bible is talking about them. For example, the Watchtower Society said that the 1,600 furlongs mentioned in Revelation 14:20 was a reference to the publishing of the book The Finished Mystery. Work on the book was done in Scranton, Pennsylvania and it was then sent to the Bethel headquarters in Brooklyn, New York. Using questionable math, they go to great lengths to show that the distance between these sites is a prophetic fulfillment of Revelation 14:20.

First, they calculate the 1,600 furlongs as being equal to 137.9 miles. Then they use railroad time tables to show that the "Shortest distance from place where the wine press was trodden by the Feet Members of the Lord, Whose Guidance and help alone made this volume possible. (John 6:60, 61; Matt. 20:11.) mi., 137.9" (The Finished Mystery, 1917 edition, p.230)

Crazy Quotes #1, Vaccinations

"Avoid serum inoculations and vaccinations as they pollute the blood stream with their filthy pus." (The Golden Age, November 13, 1929, pp. 106-107)

"Quite likely there is some connection between the violation of human blood [vaccines] and the spread of demonism..." (The Golden Age, Feb 4, 1931 p. 293)

Jehovah's Witnesses have changed their mind and now allow vaccinations.

Things to Say When Jehovah's Witnesses Knock on Your Door #1

If you don't want to speak to Jehovah's Witnesses, you can politely yet firmly request that they put you on their "do not call list". They should know what you are talking about. They may still come to your door to just make sure you want to stay on that list, but it should reduce the frequency of visits. You can also call the local Kingdom Hall and ask to be put on that list.

About this Blog

I started this blog to help counteract the propaganda efforts of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Jehovah's Witnesses. This is a multibillion dollar corporation with millions of adherents that spread their peculiar doctrines around the world.

Their beliefs on blood result in thousands of deaths. Their practice of ritualised shunning breaks up families, destroys lives and even causes suicide. Their long history of false prophecies is comical to any who haven't succumbed to their mind control techniques. Their policies have loopholes which frequently protect pedophiles, at the expense of the most innocent members of their congregations.

This giant propaganda machine has done a good job of hiding these facts from the general public and from their own members. I had the misfortune of being born into this religion and am well aware of the damage it does. I have joined thousands of other former members in an effort to educate and, hopefully, protect the public.

I believe that most Jehovah's Witnesses are victims of a dictatorial leadership and are largely ignorant of the true facts of their religion. My intention isn't to persecute them, but to challenge the leaders in their organisation, especially their Governing Body that claims to be God's channel of communication on Earth.

The videos aren't mine. They are embedded from sites like Google Video and Youtube. As a result, they won't always reflect my beliefs. They may advocate religious beliefs that are not my own. I urge you to be open minded, yet skeptical. I would be happy if this site prompts you to ask questions and do further research.

Currently I'm an agnostic, but I have an interest in religion because I know how influential and important it is. We can't really understand our fellow humans without understanding their beliefs. Religion is a root of many prejudices and religious extremism is a profound threat to modern society. However, I also believe that an open minded inquiry into religion can help us to fight this.

Aside from the main topic of this blog. I hope to also include some information on other cults, dangers in more conventional religions, agnosticism and atheism. I welcome your comments and ask that they reflect a measure of respect (even if the subject matter makes this difficult). I reserve the right to moderate comments if I feel this is necessary.
